At 41 years old, American bobsled star Elana Meyers Taylor isn’t just participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina — she fully expects to dominate. Known among close friends as “E-Money,” she told reporters she’s “money under pressure,” a mindset that has carried her to become the most decorated female bobsledder and Black Winter Olympian of all time.

Despite a challenging season filled with chronic back pain, no podium finishes, and a terrifying crash in Switzerland, Meyers Taylor remains laser-focused on bringing home gold — something that has narrowly eluded her in four previous Games.

“I’m still going for those two gold medals. I still believe it’s possible.”

From Softball Diamonds to Olympic Ice

Elana’s journey to bobsled greatness wasn’t planned. After a standout college softball career at George Washington University and a disappointing Olympic softball tryout, her parents spotted bobsledding on TV and encouraged her to give it a shot. She made the switch seamlessly and never looked back.

Inspired by Black Winter Olympic trailblazers like Shani Davis, Vonetta Flowers, and teammate Erin Jackson, Meyers Taylor lives by a simple truth: “If you see it, you can be it.”

Racing for Her Sons and Breaking Barriers

Today, her biggest motivation comes from her two young boys, Nico (5) and Noah (3), both deaf. She wants them to watch her defy the odds at 41 in a sport that demands explosive power and speed.

“Nobody in their right mind would say a 41-year-old woman is going to have a shot at another Olympic medal in a speed and power sport. I want my children to know that people told their mom it can’t happen — and then she went for it anyway.”
